The call for applications for the 2026 cycle of the UNITWIN/UNESCO Chairs program is now open. Universities and research institutions are invited to submit their applications for the 2026 cycle through the online portal, available from April 1st to 30th, 2026.
To this end, I would appreciate it if you could send us the applications by April 20, 2026, at the latest, so that they can be validated by the Algerian National Commission for Education, Science and Culture before online submission.
For your information, the number of applications is limited to two (2) per country, with the possibility of considering a third application under certain conditions, either for the creation of a UNITWIN network or for the submission of a proposal already presented during a previous round.
Evaluation criteria will be applied, and proposals will be reviewed based on their alignment with the program guidelines, paying particular attention to:
– Program coherence: a clear link to UNESCO’s holistic approach.
– Priority will be given to interdisciplinary and innovative projects, as well as those that integrate gender equality issues.
– Scientific openness: a commitment to the principles of open access and open educational resources, and the principles of open science.
